Dodgers_Angels - Allen J Schaben-L.A. Times

I’ve still been thinking about the Dodgers/Angels series this weekend. What a great series. Every game was tight until the end, and most of the games could have gone either way.   The fact that the Dodgers beat out the series is pretty significant.  The Angels have had the Dodgers number for a few years, so this one really speaks loudly of how good the Dodgers are.

I really think the Angels are back in true form. I had to laugh on the radio today when I heard the A’s were considering adding a bat to get back into contention this year. I think they have a long way to go to catch the Angels. The Angels had a lot of injuries, but they should definitely be back in the playoffs again this year.

I started to think about it, and wondered, who else can really contend with the Dodgers and Angels?

In the National League, the top team (other than the Dodgers) will be the Phillies. The Brewers are good, but I don’t think they can beat the Phillies. If the Dodgers can beat the Phillies (unlike last year), they should be able to get to the Series.

On the American side, it seems like once again the Red Sox are the team to beat. I almost pull for the Yankees because I know the Angels can beat the Yankees, but not necessarily the Red Sox. I would love to see the Angels and Dodgers in the World Series. How cool would that be for L.A.

There’s still a lot of season left, but I don’t think the concept of a Dodgers/Angels World Series is that far fetched. The Dodgers are a lot better this year than last year, and last year Sports Illustrated guessed a Dodgers/Angels World Series.

We’ll see.

What’s your take? Who will be in the Series?  Anyone else pulling for a Dodgers/Angels match up?

So I grew up in Southern California and my Grandpa and Aunt are huge Angel’s fans.  The cool thing was that since they weren’t in the same league as the Dodgers – I could cheer on both teams.  I think things have changed a little in the last few years because now the Angels are good…before they weren’t.  Now I think fans choose one or the other down there.

Anyway, I really thought the Angels would win the world series this year.  They had a great team…but tonight, they are done.  Stinkin Red Sox.   Suddenly a Manny/Jason Bay reuion could happen.  I thought at one point tonight, if the Red Sox lost, that they would blame it on Jason Bay not being Manny.  Wouldn’t you know it that Jason Bay doubled and scored the winning run.  Life is truly ironic.

Now it’s Dodger go time all the time.  Thursday night it starts.  Go Blue – 4 wins more to the big show.
