Dodger Dog Package
I’ve come to realize that comments make the world go around in the blogging world. Feedback gives you everything you need to keep writing, and it is truly what makes blogging fun.
Of all the posts I’ve written on this site, no one post continues to bring more comments than my one a few months ago (Click Here) on looking for Dodger Dogs. I want to give special credit to “bogwort 5″ for continuing my search for elusive Dodger Dogs.
Bottom line, they just don’t sell them except in L.A. Here are a couple of transcripts from Bogwort 5 on his conversations with Hormel (Maker of Dodger Dogs) and with Smart & Final. (Awesome research Bogwort 5)

This is the reply from Hormel (unfortunately) A/O June3, 2009:
Thank you for contacting us about FARMER JOHN(r) Official DODGER
DOGS(r) Franks.
The Dodger Dog is not available in many parts of our marketing area. Northern California is one….. But in Southern California, we have them even in 3 lb. packages available at Smart & Final stores, frozen, with 18 dogs to the package. And some major retailers will carry the one pound fresh package during the season. It is not something you can order direct from us unfortunately.
And here is another posting:
Thank you for contacting Smart& Final with your inquiry.
Yes, we do sell Dodger Dogs in all Smart and Final stores.
However, online services are currently not available through Smart and Final.
Please request to speak to your local store manager for further product assistance.
We regret being unable to serve your online needs at this time.

I think it’s funny. The more I find out I can’t get them, the more I want to keep trying. In this world of people buying a piece of preserved toast with a picture of the virgin Mary on Ebay, why can’t they mail Dodger Dogs in a freezer safe package? This seems weird to me.
So, I’m still looking. My focus is changing though. Now I want to find out how to ship them from L.A. If L.A. is where they are, then L.A. is where they have to come from. I want to see what UPS and some of the postal carriers offer in terms of shipping frozen goods. My initial searches have recommended a double package, with the inner package containing the hot dogs, and then putting dry ice or a freezer gel product around it, then putting all that in an outer box. I would obviously have to really watch the temperature to make sure the hot dogs stay good.
It doesn’t seem that hard to do…the issue may be cost, and making sure they are delivered to a house so they can go straight back in the freezer.
So – the search continues. If you have shipped frozen goods, or know of a good option, please leave a comment. Rumor on the street is that a package of 5 Dodger Dogs costs about $3.50 unless you find a 1/2 off sale on a holiday weekend. I’d definitely spend more than $3.50 to ship a package and enjoy a classic Dodger Dog.

I know from personal experience that the Smart & Final in downtown SF and in San Rafael both carry Dodger Dogs in the frozen section. They come in a box of 18. Smart & Final also sells the long buns that fit the Dodger Dog. I’ll be enjoying several tonight while watching the game on CSNCA.
Stop the presses! Nice post. I was thinking of calling a bunch of Smart and Final stores up here just to check, but now I definitely will. I think that’s funny that they sell them in Downdown SF. Obviously enough fans and interest. Great post. Thanks for the tip.
I know this is an older post, but I just came across this when I was googling Dodger Dogs. I purchase Dodger Dogs at the Smart and Final in San Jose on a consistent basis. They are always in stock during baseball season.
It looks like you guys is Northern California are all set. Did you ever find anyone that ships Dodger dogs? I live in Michigan and I just took my two sons to LA to see an Angel’s and Dodger game and a friend of mine hyped op the Dodger dogs to my sons. Unfortunately the day we went to the Dodger game my one son came down with a fever just as the game started and he ended up passing out in the Dodger stadium first aid room and he wasn’t able to have a Dodger dog while at the game. I thought it would be a cool surprise to be able to have Dodger dogs sent out to the mid west.
Thanks for any help you can provide and I enjoyed reading your post

Marty,
Below is Farmer John’s contact info from their website.
Try giving them a shout to see if it’s possible to get them locally….longshot at best. Otherwise you’re looking at a favor from someone out here to purchase, pack and ship.
Best of luck,
