So my wife is a Giants fan, and takes every opportunity to have fun with me and teach my kids that the Giants are the best team. To help combat this, I’ve made sure we have Dodger plates and utensils to help ingrain that the Dodgers are better from a young age.
The other day my almost 3 yr old son didn’t want to eat much, but we wondered if he just needed a fork instead of using his hands. My wife asked if he wanted a “Dodger” fork, and he answered “No.”
She then asked if he wanted a “Giants” fork (of which we don’t even have one), and he answered “Yes.” Honestly, I don’t even think he knows what the difference is, he just understood her tone, and thought that sounded better.
Maybe I’m just trying to cover deep Giant tendencies from coming….Here’s hoping he just was off that day…

Dude, that totally sucks. You need get to work training your kids that the Giants are pure evil. My kids have that same plate, cup, and silverware set!
Its tough when they only get to see the Padres on TV and in comercials but I try to take them to Dodgers games.
Oh yea, and teach them how to sing take me put to the ballgame!
That’s funny on the Take me out to the ballgame! Ironically when he was newborn that was the only song I could whistle that would put him to sleep! I have great hope that in his deep subconscious he will love the game. When I actually the sang the song – it was only root, root, for the DODGERS!
Yeah – I’ll try to teach him the right way…but I agree, all I see on tv are the stinkin Giants…
As a fellow SF resident (Lower Haight) but Dodger fanatic (grew up in Los Feliz, 2 exits north of Stadium Way on the 5), I feel your pain. I fear when I do have children, it will be a lot of work to convince them of the importance of the Dodgers. My dad’s from Boston, a devoted Sox fan, and not even taking me to Game 1 of the 1988 World Series has changed his loyalty. It did, however, make me a true blue fan, enough to absorb a lot of abuse at At&T each year. Especially after that August game last year when Casey Blake and Hong Chi Quo made 9th inning errors to blow it. Anyhow, I’ll see you this season at a Dodger Giant game at At&T. I’ll be wearing the Koufax jersey and reminding Giants fans they haven’t won squat they moved to this coast.
-MSL!
I was at that game where Casey Blake made the error. (Same game where the picture above came from) It was brutal. I’ll definitely look for the Koufax jersey. I’ve decided I’m just going to try and take my kids to at least one game at Dodger Stadium a year to help grow the passion!
